Faith at Home Family Learning Program during Covid-19 Pandemic

Due to the Yellow Zone COVID status in Spring Valley we will transition to at home family faith formation beginning Tuesday, December 1st. This information will change as Archdiocesan or Parish guidance changes.

Religious Education will take place as an at home family learning program. The catechists will help to facilitated this through weekly lessons posted to our parish website and weekly check-in calls.

We will continue to use the programs that you child received when they registered. The catechists will provide supporting lessons. Lessons will be posted each Thursday starting on December 1^st and we will require children to complete the lessons in a week. Children will also be required to complete the weekly chapter reviews and unit assessments in order to receive credit for the weekly class.

Weekly assignments will be posted by class on our parish website on scheduled days. please visit http://stjosespringvalley.org/faith-at-home-learning Parents will receive a message on Wednesday morning with their child’s specific class link and password where lessons are posted. Every week, the children are expected to, complete the lesson, the assigned homework and chapter review, view the short lesson video (if provided), and review/discuss its contents with their parents. Lessons and homework will be assigned weekly and should be completed by the following Thursday. This is to ensure that families are keeping up with the curriculum. Parents will email or other wise advased by yuor child catechist all homework and confirmation that chapter review pages in the student workbook have been completed to

Responsibilities of the Parent: Parents are accepting responsibility for the home-based religious education of their children. They agree to engage with their children in their weekly religious education assignments. The Archdiocesan Guidelines for Catechesis are the foundation for religious education in the parish inside and outside classroom-based instruction. The materials that we are following adhere to this foundation.

Responsibilities of the Child: Children should complete their weekly religious education assignments and seek out their parents if they have questions. Children should pay special attention to opportunities for family prayer and reflection that are offered as they go through the materials with their parents.

Responsibilities of the Catechists: Catechists will place phone calls to our families to check in on the weekly lesson and assignment and offer any help needed in order to complete the week’s assignment.

The parish staff is available to support parents. Parents should contact Mrs. Alicia Lima for any questions that arise in the course of instruction.
